Whether you have a high paying job or a low paying one, you will be taxed on your income. For those who are not aware, the taxes you pay in the year may also result in refunds which are generally referred to as tax rebates. They include giving back part of a person’s money if they have paid more than required on tax. Everyone has a right to tax rebates if they feel they have overpaid in terms of tax.

Situations where you may pay more

Students – If you are a student who worked throughout the holidays without filling in a student employee form, you may have overpaid tax. This is also possible if you worked more than one job simultaneously or if you were only employed for part of the year. Also, if you became self-employed at some point in the year or switched from a full-time job to a part-time one, it is possible that you paid a higher tax rate.

Professionals – It is possible for workers to have overpaid taxes if they have jumped from job to job through the year or worked more than one job. Overpayment on taxes is also possible if your employer has used the wrong tax code.

Regardless of the situation, it is important that you assess your payments and file for a tax rebate soon. Filing a tax rebate will ensure you get a certain amount from your overpayments made through the year.
