Many people in the UK are eligible for tax refunds but they are not acutely aware about it. There are many reasons why you could be eligible for a tax refund. Some common reasons are explained below.

If you are student who is doing a part time job in the UK, you may be eligible for a tax refund. Most students who work in the UK get an income that is below the tax-free allowance. This way, they are exempted from paying tax. However, if you are a student and working in the UK, your income might be above the tax-free allowance and you might have to pay tax. If you are working part-time and have paid all your dues in the form of tax, then it is advisable that you meet your tax agent. Your tax agent will be in a better position to assess your situation.

Leaving the UK

If you are leaving the UK permanently, then you may be eligible for a tax refund. The revenue commission will owe you some money in the form of a tax refund. If you are leaving your job in the middle of a tax year, then you can be eligible too. This means that you have paid money to the revenue commission when you could have benefited from the tax-free allowance. You should keep in mind that when you are leaving the UK, it should be for a permanent period and should be within the taxation year.
