Are you due for a tax rebate? Filling in a tax rebate form might be confounding at times. Tax payers can opt to receive the tax rebate in the form of a cheque. They can also opt to get the rebate deposited into their bank account directly. Here are some ways how you can go about the entire process.

Collect your invoices

This is the first step to be followed for claiming your tax rebates. You need to collect all your pay slips or stubs pertaining to the last year. Ensure that you do not miss out on any of these pay slips.

File a tax return

You should then file a tax return with the officials concerned. In addition, you also need to download a form belonging to the 1040 series. It is possible to download the form from the Internal Revenue service as well.

You can also check the status of your tax rebate by calling the refund hotline given by the tax refund officials.

Wait for your tax rebate to arrive

You will then need to wait for at least six weeks to get your tax rebate. Keep in mind that you will get your rebate six weeks after the date your returns were received. In case you filed it electronically, you will get your rebate cheque three weeks after the acknowledgement date.

You should begin a follow-up if you do not get your tax rebate within the specified time. This can also be done online on the government website for tax rebates. Follow the above mentioned tips and get the rebate you deserve.
