Many taxpayers claim tax refunds, but there is one question which is always asked. How long does it take to get a tax refund? The answer varies. The best you can do is to fill out all the necessary forms to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible, but it usually takes at least a month.

As the deadline for filing gets closer, HMRC gets busier, so it can be hard to get information about the progress of your claim at this time of year.

If you want to receive your returns in good time, make sure you have all the required papers ready well in advance. If you make a mistake, sending the wrong documents your request can be rejected and you will have to submit again. You can make use of professional assistance to speed the claim procedure and give yourself a better chance of getting your refund.

If your application is not accepted, you must get in touch about the problem. If you are convinced that you are entitled to a tax refund, you must make another application.
