People are often confused about taxes and tax rebates. They often avoid applying for tax rebates due to negligence, or due to fear of the unknown.

Who can apply?

This is the common question for all tax payers. People do not know if they are able to apply for a rebate or not. There can be number of reasons for your application. If you are leaving the UK permanently during a financial year you can apply for a tax rebate. Similarly, if you have been made unemployed or are working as a student, you can apply for a tax rebate. If you are retiring or changing jobs frequently, you may be eligible for a tax rebate.

How many years of tax rebate can be claimed at once?

You can claim for a tax rebate for as many as 6 years in arrears. You can check your P60 to confirm if you can claim your tax back. All you need to do if you haven’t got access to your P60s is to provide a statement of earnings.

How long does the tax rebate process takes

It is important to know how much time your tax rebate will take. This gives you an idea of how much time you will have to wait for your tax return. Many people are unaware of this fact and want to get their tax return instantly. It is however a very long process which may take some time.
