Who is not happy when they receive some unexpected money? In a world where money means everything, tax refunds are a prize to hold onto. And it is only those who understand the concept of tax refunds that emerge as smiling winners.

Think carefully

A tax refund is awaited as eagerly as Christmas or New Year as many use the money obtained to pay pending bills, catch up on their mortgage or rent, or splurge on clothes for the kids.

Keep in mind…

In order to maximise the benefits received from a tax refund, there are two major aspects that one needs to keep in mind. Your assets need to be disclosed for you to claim a tax refund legitimately. A tax refund is an asset even if you have not received it yet and failure to list it as an asset may cause you to forgo your tax refund money.

Your tax return must be prepared accurately and every detail should be gone through with a fine-toothed comb.

A good accountant and some basic knowledge can save you a considerable amount of money.
