Is it complicated to claim a tax rebate? Pt.1

As with many things, a lot of people don’t claim the tax rebate they are entitled to because they worry that it is too complicated to do so. Some people worry that it will take too much time and effort, and are put off by a common misconception that the tax system is too complex to fathom.

This really doesn’t have to be the case; all you need is a little help and guidance and your refund could be on its way to you in no time at all. You may be entitled to a tax rebate if any of the following circumstances apply to you:

• You are on an emergency tax code. This can often happen when you start a new job and your employer doesn’t know which tax code to put you on
• You are a student with part-time work, or you are returning to study after a period of full-time working
• You are leaving the country to live abroad
• You are an overseas worker who has paid too much tax
• You have recently become unemployed, or have stopped working for another reason

See pt.2 of this guide for the few easy steps you need to follow to claim your tax rebate.
