It is a fact of life that you simply cannot wait for other people to do things for you if you want to get something done. It is necessary to take responsibility, especially when a certain course of action will benefit you and you alone. Take tax rebates as an example. Tax rebates benefit nobody but yourself, but you are completely entitled to them if you have overpaid on your tax.

Waiting around for the HMRC to eventually get around to looking at your case and then making the right calculations in order to come to the right conclusion regarding the amount of money you are owed can take a very long time. You have to set the ball rolling yourself because being proactive guarantees a quicker result.

Of course, if you are not that confident in your own maths skills and so on, being proactive means getting in touch with people who have a lot of experience in dealing with the ins and outs of tax refunds and associated matters. Tax claims agencies have the right know how to act on your information to secure you a refund in good time.
