Tax is not something that you should be afraid of. It is true that tax is all about numbers and this puts people off because they are not all that confident when dealing with maths, but tax is also about circumstances in your personal life and you can be relatively confident when you talk about these.

It is important that you learn all about the tax breaks and the tax conditions that relate to all the things that may be happening in your life, including whether you are out of work, whether you have been working abroad, whether you are studying full time or whether you have recently retired.

All these conditions have an effect on your tax code. You can speak to tax claims agencies about your circumstances and ask them for advice in terms of what you are paying in tax and whether this seems correct. They will calculate your tax code and if there seems to be a discrepancy between this figure and what you are actually paying then you may have a case for a rebate.

Your claims agency will deal with the HMRC so you don’t need to worry about the numbers. It is best to leave it to the experts.
