Leaving the country for a time is sometimes the best thing for your career. If there is a chance that you can work elsewhere then there is certainly no reason you should not take it, as long as circumstances do not mean that you need to stay in the UK. When you go abroad you often have the chance to gain a new perspective on things.

There is also the possible situation that your career will blossom if you follow the opportunity to go abroad. What you must not do is go abroad without figuring out where you stand in terms of tax. The fact is that if you are being paid in another country and paying tax in another country, you should not contribute in two places at once.

If you have already been in this situation then you need to get the matter sorted. You may well be entitled to a tax refund that actually amounts to a lot of money. If you have not yet left the country then notifying the HMRC before you go is wise.
