It is unlikely you will earn enough to pay tax when studying

There is very little likelihood that you will earn enough to get charged any tax when you are working at the same time as studying full time. There simply isn’t enough time for you to devote to working for cash when you are spending so much time at university or at college trying to get the qualifications you need to take your forward in your chosen area.

If you do find that you are paying tax at this time then it is likely that something has gone wrong somewhere. You would have to be working quite intensively alongside your degree to have enough in your pay packet each month to warrant you paying tax. It is worth looking at your tax code to see if you are being charged basic rate or emergency tax or any other figure unrelated to your current circumstances.

If there does turn out to be a problem the best way of addressing it tends to be to talk to an adviser at a tax claims agency because they will have practical experience of the situation and they will have an understanding of how to claim that tax back.
