Tax hiccups that undermine your working efforts

It obviously makes the news when celebrities and public figures are found to be avoiding paying tax because they want to maximise their earnings even when it is not strictly speaking legal. However, it never makes the news when people are overcharged tax on their earnings. Of course, there is no real reason why it should make the news. However, it sometimes gives the impression that cheating on tax happens more often than being charged too much.

This is simply not the case. It is quite likely that at some point in your professional career you will face difficulties related to a tax code that should not apply to your earnings. Otherwise, matters relating to your employment history may lead to hiccups in your tax payments that turn out to favour the HMRC to the detriment of your finances.

Correcting these issues is actually relatively easy. It is a question of speaking to the right people about what has gone wrong. Even if you only have a suspicion that something has gone awry, talking to professional tax claims agencies tends to be the best way of getting a better idea of how to resolve the issue.
