The current climate in the UK makes paying tax seem like much more of a chore than used to seem. This is because very few people are in a position where they are earning more because salaries have been frozen across all sorts of industries. When salaries are frozen at the same time as the cost of living goes up, people tend to feel the squeeze because they don’t have any spare income.

In this situation, it becomes even more crucial that you are as proactive as you can possibly be in terms of finding out whether you are actually paying the right amount of tax. There is a chance that you might not be and the overpayments could actually represent the difference between getting by comfortably and really struggling to make ends meet.

If you do keep a keen eye on your finances and do some investigating then you may find that you have been paying too much tax for a certain period of time or you did so in the past. This is when you need to look at getting a tax rebate for all you have contributed over the amount you should have contributed.
