If you do a bit of freelance work at the same time as drawing a salary from your employer then it is likely that you are entitled to certain tax breaks. This is because you are effectively running your own business which has nothing to do with the fact that you are on the payroll elsewhere. Your status as self-employed is upheld even when you are employed by someone else at the same time.

As such you should look into the tax breaks that apply to you. Tax deductible items that relate to the type of work you do are could be many and various so digging a little deeper could save you a lot of money, especially when it comes to things like computer equipment, travel costs, phone costs and so on.

If you have a proper idea of the type of things you can claim back in the field of taxation then you stand a better chance of making your working circumstances work for you. This is what working freelance is all about: arranging your working life to better suit you and to work in your favour.
