Tax Rebates & Refunds

When mistakes leave you in credit with the HMRC

You cannot rely on getting a tax rebate in order to bring your bank balance back to a state of health but you can take action when circumstances conspire to leave you in credit with the HMRC. There is not necessarily any point in remaining in credit – you may as well get in touch so that you can get your hands on the cash that your overpayments amount to in real terms.

This is something that you can attempt alone but it does not always prove successful to do so because of the complex nature of the tax system and because of the fact that the HMRC only deals in written correspondence. Urgency is evidently not among the priorities of the HMRC, although they will be just as keen as you to get things sorted out and to restore a sense of accuracy and quality to things.

The alternative is to talk to a professional agency that specialises in claiming tax back for its clients. This is a sensible move when you chief priority is to get things done quickly and efficiently and you don’t want the hassle of the dispute hanging over you.
